  • Welcome to the FORNESSA Information Service FORNIS!

On this platform you may access and exchange forest-related scientific information in Africa and more particularly of FORNESSA partner organizations. This new website facilitates a more dynamic exchange of information and increases visibility of the participating FORNESSA institutions. Before all, it provides a hub leading to a variety of scientific information items, offers a place for promoting research of FORNESSA institutions via articles and links to the institutional websites, projects or the research itself. You are also invited to use the blog in order to communicate compelling news and to present reports and ideas.

Come and join in to broker your scientific information. For the time being, the network concentrates on the following thematic areas:

    Forest Products Utilisation and Trade

Efficient processing and utilisation of forest products, trade and taxation, and valuation of forest are key issues to support sustainable conservation and management of forest resources. The group will synthesise latest research on these issues and identify specific new areas for scientific inquiry.

    Forest Policy and Governance

Land tenure, forest use conflicts and benefit sharing arrangements are key issues to be addressed in African forest policy. State-of-the-art knowledge on these issues across Sub-Saharan Africa will assist in formulation and implementation of appropriate policies.
