Biography

My research interests are fairly broad, but revolve around biological interactions and community ecology in arid and semiarid lands of North Africa. I’m interested in how natural environments and anthropogenic perturbations affect biological interactions, population dynamics and influence community diversity. I collaborate on works that deal with plant diversity and distribution, terrestrial insects, plant-insect interactions, freshwater fish, and mycorrhization. I’m seeking answers for the following questions using statistical modelling approaches: (1) what is the structure (nested, partially connected, etc.) of these networks in various natural and disturbed environments? (2) Does this structure vary geographically? (3) Can this structure be explained by species composition of local communities and/or by species traits? In other word I’m looking to understand and assess spatiotemporal variations of biodiversity, in various ecosystems of Algeria and North Africa.
