4 PhD scholarships are available at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies at the University of Nairobi (UoN) in Collaboration with the University of Copenhagen (UoC).

All 4 PhD studies will be integrated in the STAKE project. Each PhD student will collaborate with other students and senior researchers within STAKE - and also have a specific research focus:
One PhD student will study the role of formal (forest) law in alleviating or reproducing conflict (PhD #1)
Two PhD students will study the actual drivers of forest related conflict in Kenya (PhD #2 and #3)
One PhD student will study the impacts of formal (forest) law on livelihoods and conflict behaviours (PhD #4)
