to
Joe Cobbinah
Citation
Joe Cobbinah has served IUFRO in several functions, a.o. from 1999-2005 and 2006-2010 as Deputy Coordinator and Coordinator of 7.03.09 Tropical Forest Pest and Disease Management. He was Representative of Ghana to the IUFRO International Council in the period 2001-2005, and in 2005 he served as a member of the IUFRO Review Panel. At present, he is the Chair of the Congress Scientific Committee of the first IUFRO-FORNESSA Regional Congress & ITTO/AFF Forest Policy Day (25 to 29 June 2012) in Nairobi, Kenya, which promises to be a great success for IUFRO.
Joe Cobbinah is particularly known for mentoring and guiding young research scientists, and he has been an initiator and great promoter of IUFRO activities in Africa, but also beyond the continent.
Joe Cobbinah is therefore awarded IUFRO’s Distinguished Service Award.
