Session B-1: Overview on Climate Change
Around 300 scientists and decision-makers meet in Nairobi, Kenya from 25 to 29 June 2012 to discuss forest and tree management challenges, and research needs in Africa.
A recent study conducted in two forest-dependent areas in Africa emphasizes cross-sectoral planning as a key element in implementing any effective climate change adaptation strategy.
The focal objective of the study was to identify elements of adaptation strategies in order to define concrete, resilient adaptation measures that can be implemented on the ground within the selected pilot case areas.
During the FORNESSA Networking Meeting in Malawi in 2009 the Forests and Climate Change Group discussed common on-going country research activities related to climate change in the sub-region and identified gaps that exist in climate change research
