The UN-REDD Programme is looking for a consultant to support its activities in the field of legal preparedness for REDD+. The position is based in Rome and will involve frequent travel to developing countries. The application deadline is Wednesday 13 November 2013. The duration of the consultancy is six months, extendable.

Tasks
The FAO team of the UN-REDD Programme provides legal advisory services to countries for the development of their legal frameworks for REDD+. The consultant will support this work and perform the following tasks: 

The Mastercard Foundation, which is based in Canada, is funding full scholarships for students from Africa to attend the University of British Columbia, either as undergraduates or to enroll in professional Master’s programs.

From 12 – 19 November 2013, the UNIDO Institute and the Energy and Climate Change Branch will conduct a Professional Development Programme on Sustainable Energy Solutions. It will be organized in cooperation with the International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE) in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The 8 day course shall give participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with current and expected trends in sustainable energy solutions and to reflect on practical, innovative and cost effective ways to address sustainability problems within the energy industry.

The International Union of Forest Research Organizations presents its

Distinguished Service Award

to

The First IUFRO-FORNESSA Regional Congress opened on Tuesday, 26 June 2012 at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Organized by the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) and the Forestry Research Network of Sub-Saharan Africa (FORNESSA), with support from a number of donor organizations and institutions, the Congress focuses on the theme, “Forests and Trees: Serving the People of Africa and the World.”

4 PhD scholarships are available at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental Studies at the University of Nairobi (UoN) in Collaboration with the University of Copenhagen (UoC).

Deadline for the submission of Abstracts for the IUFRO-FORNESSA Congress 2012 has been extended to 31st December 2011.

Notification of Acceptance:29th February 2012

Ten fully-funded scholarship grants are available for an MSc in Forestry by distance learning. The scholarships are worth £12,000 to cover tuition fees plus a £2,000 bursary to enable scholars to attend a study tour which will be held overseas in July/August. The scholarships are currently only available for entrants in September 2011.

Applicants may be nationals of: Bangladesh, Botswana, Cameroon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guyana, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
